Amsterdam is an Amsterdam-based placemaker in the Schinkelkwartier, offering space for coworking, flexible offices, events, sports, and an active community calendar for more than 350 startups, scale-ups, and corporations. It’s a place that’s never finished and is always evolving—and it keeps growing. With Alexa Lightner as the new Managing Director starting in April 2026.
Alexa brings more than a decade of experience at the intersection of community building, commercial strategy, and the future of work. Originally from the U.S., Alexa began her career by helping to launch and scale one of the first coworking spaces in Boston. Since then, she has worked for several startups and scale-ups in the US and the Netherlands, and has helped clients worldwide improve the way they collaborate. Her international perspective, experience in innovative and entrepreneurial environments, and talent for bringing people together make her the ideal fit for B.’s future growth and the further development of our community.

Under the leadership of Tessa Bakker, B. Amsterdam has grown over the past 9 years into the place it is today. With her vision and energy, she has shaped an environment that offers space to grow, experiment, and build together, featuring a versatile portfolio of approximately 40,000 m² of office and coworking space spread across 3 buildings. But also: 12 indoor padel courts, 40+ event and meeting spaces, and more. Because at B., we’re never done building. As placemakers, we build spaces where people and ideas come together. With room to experiment and keep building.
Tessa is now passing the baton, but will remain closely connected to B. through her role at Timeless Investments, as a founder and shareholder of B. Amsterdam, and as the owner of B.’s main building and the surrounding area. In her new role, she will remain involved in the ongoing developments surrounding B. These developments include the realization of B. at Home, which is currently under construction. This marks the first step toward realizing a large-scale area development centered around B. Amsterdam here in Amsterdam Nieuwe Meer—a new, innovative urban neighborhood where living, working, and amenities come together.
Timeless is partnering with developer COD on the B. at Home project, which will include 270 residential units, 30 hotel apartments, public and commercial amenities, and 2,100 m² of office space. The design is by Next Architects, and completion is scheduled for 2028. B. Amsterdam will also serve as the driving and connecting force in this building and the surrounding public space as the operator. With this, B. is moving into the next phase as the manager and director of an entire neighborhood where all functions and people complement each other and coexist. In this way, we create a vibrant neighborhood where living, working, sports, socializing, and entrepreneurship reinforce one another.
