“It’s the combination of a great office, top-notch facilities, and the flexibility it offers us.” — Larry van Consultancy.nl
The way we work has changed significantly in recent years. Whereas a five-day workweek in the office used to be the norm, more and more companies are opting for a hybrid work model. But what does that mean for your office space?
For one of our members, Consultancy.nl , the answer was clear: a shared office.
We now have three shared office spaces that we offer. Your own space, fully furnished, without being tied down by all the fixed costs of a traditional office. The shared office is also a place to grow. We offer this option for groups ranging from 2 to a maximum of 12 people and everything in between. Something for everyone !! We spoke with Consultancy.nl about their choice, experiences, and what it has yielded for them so far.
From the traditional office to smart sharing
“As a company, we’ve permanently switched to working two days a week in the office and the rest from home,” says Larry. “A shared-office concept fits perfectly with that.” Instead of paying for an office that sits empty most of the week, Consultancy.nl opted for a solution that adapts to their way of working. “It’s cost-effective, allowing you to invest more in a nicer office with better facilities.” And they noticed the difference right away.
More than just a workplace
When choosing a shared office, they looked at several providers, but one location stood out: B. Amsterdam. “The quality of the offices, the facilities, and especially the community really made the difference. They organize educational events, and there’s always something going on.” The first impression also played a major role. “We immediately had a pleasant, positive meeting with the community team. They think along with you and provide support where needed. That gave us confidence.”
This is what their workweek looks like
The Consultancy.nl team deliberately works together on set days: Mondays and Wednesdays. “On those days, we schedule meetings, work together, and make use of everything available: shared spaces, seating areas, phone booths , and even sports facilities like table tennis and padel.” The rest of the week, they work flexibly, either from home or somewhere else. “We truly believe in the power of hybrid work: collaboration and connection in the office, combined with freedom and flexibility outside of it.”
A positive impact on the team
Although their daily routine remained largely the same, their surroundings did change, and that had an impact. “The office and the facilities have a positive impact on our team dynamics. Everyone feels relaxed and right at home,” said Larry. There was also a greater sense of connection outside of work. “The activities really help with that. Think of sports activities like padel, events like the Christmas party, and inspiring gatherings.” The result? “Not necessarily more productivity, but definitely more job satisfaction.”
The power of ambiance and amenities
A workplace is more than just desks and chairs. It’s about the whole experience. “The vibe is energetic and creative. With so many places to sit together or just relax, it almost feels like a cozy living room.”
Practical details also make a difference. For example, there is a reliable catering partner on site: “That’s really a big plus. Many colleagues use it, and the quality is good.”
Have doubts about sharing? They'll disappear quickly
At first, the idea of a shared office space raised some questions. “To be honest, we had our doubts about that. But they were quickly dispelled,” says Larry. Why? “Because everything is well organized. There’s a community manager, the space is kept clean, and you can count on everything being tidy when you walk in.”
The real value of a shared office
If they had to sum it up in one sentence: “It’s the combination of a great office, excellent facilities, and the flexibility it offers us.” And their advice for other companies? “Just come take a look. We were hesitant at first, too, but the benefits far outweigh any potential downsides—if there even are any.”
Is a shared office right for you?
For companies that embrace hybrid work, a dedicated shared office can offer the right balance: an inspiring place for collaboration, without sacrificing flexibility. And perhaps most importantly: a place where work isn’t just efficient, but actually becomes more enjoyable.
